Gather

As we start settle into 2021, one of our goals of the new year is to share more details here on the blog of projects and activities we’ve been up to. Today we are sharing a fun project that Kyle Aaron Designs was invited to collaborate on towards the end of 2020.

Kyle was approached by Kelly Moore Paints to work on an experimental design space in the San Francisco Design Center. This space was put together around the holidays 2020 while many of us here in California continued to shelter-in-place. With 2020’s challenges in mind, the theme of the created space that we collectively decided on was “Gathering.” The goal was to help inspire new ways of inviting people into your space, whether it be physically with your bubbled pod or virtually with your friends and family from a distance.

Kyle Aaron Designs’ role was to help to select a color for the space and bring awareness to the fact that Kelly Moore has amazing Architectural kit that contain 1700 colors!

Our goal was toto select a color that invoked the feeling of a perfect Fall twilight evening. Additionally we wanted to select a color that would be neutral enough to design around throughout the year. The color that we landed on was Arrow Quiver - KM4516 from Kelly Moore

Muralist and Kelly Moore Paints expert, Shannon Kaye helped us jazz up the space with a bold and graphic wall mural. She selected Kelly Moore’s teal, mustard and more of the Arrow Quiver for her design. We loved how it added personality and structure to the space. Be on the lookout, we plan to feature more from Shannon’s mural work and share her expertise in the future. Here’s a close-up of her handy-work.

We also had the opportunity to work (again) with our friends and local SF showroom, Maker & Moss to help curate and style this space. After the wall color was chosen, we  selected pieces from the Maker & Moss showroom;  a sectional from Lee Industries, a sofa from Rowe, a concrete side table from Pamela Homes, art work from Four Hands, along with accessories from Wonki Ware. Take a look a how it turned out.

Unfortunately, due to the limitations of the pandemic, we could not share the space with the public and designers physically. Therefore, we used the space to film some live Instagram segments and shared our ideas on inviting people in to our space (real or virtual) in a way that keeps us safe, while still allowing us to feel honored and connected.

We still have access to this space and are brainstorming some ideas on how to use this space in the Winter and Spring of 2021. Let us know if there are questions or subjects that you would like to see us address. Kelly Moore Paints, Maker & Moss and Kyle Aaron Designs would love to share more with you! Comment below if you have any ideas. Ciao for now!
