Bookshelves Are Hard!

Interior Design encompasses a plethora of challenges. Obvious ones that stand out are generally around renovation projects, custom furniture and fixtures, coordinated tradesmen or coming up with a general design ethos for a space. All come with their own weight. But, oddly enough most clients seem to have a similar conundrum. After all of the heavy lifting has been done... "How the heck do I style shelves?"

No matter how large the project, this seemingly pedestrian task somehow intimidates even the most seasoned folk. The funny part is that there really is no right or wrong answer! The beauty of shelves is that you can change them up. Rearrange, pair it down, buff it up with new pieces... the sky is the limit!

We recently had to zhuzh up a space for a client to entertain company. Which included a couple of bookcases that needed some love. It's simple, just start fresh! Clear off your canvas and start spacing your favorite pieces out. Start to fill in the gaps, take a step back, and have fun. If it doesn't bring you joy, you don't have to use it!
